Echoes of the Tea Horse Road — 7-Day Dali, Shaxi and Weishan In-depth Cultural Journey
Design Philosophy
How This Journey Was Crafted
Dali is the ancient capital of the Nanzhao Kingdom and the Dali Kingdom, and one of the most important transit stations on the ancient Tea Horse Road. Here, the Bai ethnic group's traditional crafts—tie-dye, wood carving, and the Three-Course Tea ceremony—are passed down through generations, while Mount Jizu is one of China's eight famous Buddhist mountains and the dojiato (practice ground) of Maitreya Bodhisattva. Weishan is the birthplace of the Nanzhao Kingdom, where Ming and Qing dynasty architecture and the厚重 history of Hui Muslim horse caravan mansions can still be seen in the ancient streets. Shaxi is the only surviving ancient market town on the Tea Horse Road, with the Heilong River encircling it and the Jade Ford Bridge lying quietly; time seems to stand still here. We traverse Dali Ancient City, Mount Jizu, Weishan Ancient City, and Shaxi Ancient Town, following the echoes of the Tea Horse Road and feeling the profound resonance of Bai culture and Nanzhao history.
