Journey Highlights

S101 Scenic Highway

Known as the "Tianshan Geographic Landscape Corridor," this road offers a stunning succession of Danxia landforms, canyons, grasslands, and snow-capped peaks – one of Xinjiang's most underrated scenic drives.

Sayram Lake

Called the "last teardrop of the Atlantic," this sapphire-blue alpine lake is the highest and largest of its kind in Xinjiang, surrounded by grasslands and snow-capped mountains.

Kazanqi Folk District

Xiatu Ancient Trail & Muzart Glacier

Xuanzang once passed through here on his westward journey. The ancient trail, glacier, snow peaks, and rivers create an epic landscape – a paradise for hikers and photographers.

Full Duku Highway Crossing

Known as China's most beautiful highway, it traverses four seasons in a single day and showcases Xinjiang's diverse geography – from northern grasslands to southern canyons.

Kashgar Old City & Ethnic Diversity

Wander through the thousand-year-old Kashgar Old City, visit Gaotai Residences, Id Kah Mosque, and Xiangfei Garden – experience the rich tapestry of Uyghur, Tajik, Kyrgyz, and other cultures in southern Xinjiang.

Design Philosophy

Xinjiang is the heart of Central Asia and a vital corridor for the eastward spread of Buddhism. The Tianshan Mountains run east-west across this vast land, dividing it into northern and southern parts. The Pamir Plateau is not only a natural barrier but also, with its meltwater from snow and ice, nurtures scattered oases in southern Xinjiang. This was an indispensable route on the Silk Road, a sacred path for Xuanzang’s westward journey to seek Buddhist scriptures, and a trail of faith for early Muslim sages traveling to Mecca for pilgrimage.

The Kunlun Mountains extend eastward from Xinjiang all the way to the vast plateaus of Qinghai. Meanwhile, the expansive pastures of northern Xinjiang have been the ancestral homeland of the Mongol, Kazakh, and Tuva peoples for generations. Over thousands of years, Han, Uyghur, Kazakh, Mongol, Hui, and many other ethnic groups have met, mingled, and influenced one another on this land, giving birth to a uniquely rich and diverse culture.

This journey begins in Urumqi. We travel south along the pastures of northern Xinjiang, from north to south, deep into the heart of the Tianshan Mountains, to uncover the hidden wonders of Xinjiang. It is not merely a scenic tour – it is a dialogue across time and civilizations. The spread of Buddhism, the footsteps of Xuanzang, the faith of Islam, and the migrations of nomadic peoples have all left deep imprints on this land.

On one-sixth of China's territory, you will be captivated by the endless mountains, vast pastures, and a kaleidoscope of cultures.
